South Germantown Park Development
A landmark project managed by Development Services, LLC was the development of South Germantown Recreational Park in Montgomery County, Maryland. Terry Brooks, Jr., AIA, led this initiative, which was one of the first public-private partnership parks in the county. Spanning 200 acres, this $50 million project featured 25 irrigated soccer fields, an outdoor stadium, a splash park, and numerous other amenities. The park was funded equally by the Montgomery County government and a private donor, each contributing $25 million. Terry was responsible for managing the partnership program, ensuring seamless collaboration between the public and private sectors to create a premier regional park.
The development of South Germantown Recreational Park included a master plan that integrated the Maryland Soccer Foundation SoccerPlex, featuring a championship field, and the Central Park, which boasts a sprayground, mini-golf, and a network of interconnecting trails. The design emphasized accessibility and environmental aesthetics, with seating berms, evergreen barriers, and shaded areas for spectators. The project also planned future expansions, such as the Germantown Aquatic Center. This project highlights Development Services’ expertise in managing complex, large-scale recreational developments, demonstrating their ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and deliver high-quality community spaces.
